Reflexology and Arthritis

Arthritis is a painful condition that affects millions of adults in the UK
and also a significant number of children.  There are many different forms
of Arthritis.  The condition causes the joints to become inflamed, swollen
and very painful.  It may limit mobility and make everyday tasks much more
difficult to undertake.

Whilst there are numerous Anti-inflammatory drugs, painkillers and steroids
available to help patients to cope with the condition, many people have
found that Reflexology can also be extremely helpful.

Arthritis flares up when large quantities of uric acid build up in the body.
The acid causes inflammation and swelling over the affected joints.  By
giving regular Reflexology treatments to a patient over a period of 4-6
weeks, we can encourage the liver to detoxify the body and stimulate the
Lymphatic system and the Kidneys to remove the waste, reducing the swelling
and discomfort.

Where Arthritis has affected the hands, I can work the corresponding areas
of the feet as part of a full Reflexology treatment.  Similarly, if the feet
were affected and uncomfortable, we can use Reflexology on the hands to
bring about the same positive results!
